How to Ensure Successful Health Screening Program

Posted by Lisa Stovall on Wed, Oct, 23, 2013

goalsAs health screenings have become more and more popular among companies, the number of vendors has increased exponentially. As a result, employers are faced with a multitude of options for onsite biometric screenings.

It can be a challenge sifting through all of the information - from fingersticks and venous blood draws to stations and pods - there are tons of items to consider when implementing a health screening program.

But at the end of the day, it really comes down to one thing: staffing

Screening professionals are often the first and sometimes the only people that the employee physically encounters as part of the screening and wellness program. As a result, they are the face of the program, and their professionalism and consistency in performing the tests are of the utmost importance.

TotalWellness understands how critical quality screening staff are to the success of your worksite wellness program. We ensure our staff is high quality, experienced and talented through a comprehensive application process. Once hired, TotalWellness continually evaluates staff on punctuality, preparedness, appearance, conduct, the organization and efficiency of clinics and communication with clients. They also sign a code of conduct agreement, which includes expectations on professionalism, appearance, confidentiality and overall event success. All our biometric screening events also have an appointed Event Coordinator. These coordinators help create the screening event flow and test all equipment to confirm it is functioning properly before events.

We also work with our clients to develop training to educate our on-site screening team on the company culture and wellness program. As an example, for Google we offered 10 minute health consultations after employees received their health screening results. This allowed our team to share specific resources that were available to Google employees based on their unique health risks. For other clients, we share next steps, like completing a Health Risk Assessment. Either way, we can provide valuable education and information to your employees.

So when reviewing biometric screening vendors be sure you evaluate the screening staff that will be coming onsite - they are vital to your event success.
