Preventative maintenance is important to keep things such as home appliances, cars and tools in good working order. But what about the most important asset of all – health?Mainteance

According to the National Commission on Prevention Priorities, preventive screenings could save more than 100,000 lives per year. In order to improve preventive service utilization, companies can offer biometric screenings as part of a workplace wellness program. On-site screenings help eliminate barriers to better health (e.g. cost, time, inconvenience) and are one of the easiest ways for people to get a preventive screening.

What is a biometric screening?

Biometric screening events provide detailed assessments of basic health indicators. These types of events are very valuable for creating awareness and providing educational opportunities for participants in the workplace.

In just a 15-minute visit and with one finger prick, TotalWellness can provide a full lipid analysis, which includes total cholesterol, HDL, triglycerides, LDL, a ratio of total cholesterol to HDL along with a glucose reading. Testing can also measure the employee’s blood pressure, height, weight, Body Mass Index (BMI) and waist circumference. Our program also gives employees the opportunity to meet with a counselor to review individual results. This helps to give the employee an idea of their overall health, as well as identify any risk factors that might lead to cardiovascular disease or diabetes.
