Posted by Jamie Bell on Tue, Sep, 23, 2014

When you think of company culture, Clif Bar is one of the first places that comes to mind. The healthy snack and drink company has truly set the 'bar' for America's workplaces, from a robust wellness program to an incredible list of perks and benefits. floorplan 720x480

In an organization that cites athletes and health nuts as its demographic, Clif Bar understands the importance and the value of corporate wellness. Clif Bar employs a "Wellness Diva" whose job is purely to find ways to keep Clif Bar's 200+ employees healthy and productive.

Every employee can exercise for two and a half hours each week on company time. They can work out with one of five on-site personal trainers, participate in one of the 32 free fitness classes offered each week at the on-site gym, or take one of the in-house bikes out for a ride. Clif Bar also offers wellness seminars, an annual health fair with biometric screenings, and a reimbursement of up to $350 for participating in athletic competitions like marathons or triathlons.

While we're already on the verge of relocating TotalWellness to Clif Bar's headquarters in Emeryville, California, an incredible employee wellness program isn't the only benefit of working here. Their approach towards health extends well beyond the walls of their office.

Every seven years, workers become eligible for a six-week paid sabbatical. Clif Bar even offers unique reimbursement initiatives called the 'Cool Car' and 'Cool Home' programs. The 'Cool Car' program offers up to $6,500 in return for the purchase of a company-improved hybrid or electric vehicle, promoting sustainable transportation. The 'Cool Home' program offers $1,000 for retrofitting your house with solar panels or energy-efficient windows, encouraging energy conservation.

An extra added bonus: Kali's Kitchen, Clif Bar & Company's in-house cafe, serves subsidized meals made with local, organic and sustainable ingredients. What's unique about it? It is entirely employee-owned and operated, reflecting our commitment to a collaborative and inclusive culture. Take a peek at the kitchen here (but maybe avoid it if it's lunchtime).

Other notable perks of working for Clif Bar include:

  • A 40-foot rock climbing wall
  • Four atrium gardens
  • Subsidized massage and chiropractic services (seriously)
  • On-site car washing and detailing, haircuts, laundry and dry cleaning
  • Free coffee
  • A dog-friendly campus

Clif Bar was just named #12 on a list of Fortune's 25 Best Medium-Size Companies to Work For and enjoys an incredible retention rate of 96 percent.
