Tablet Technology at Biometric Screening Events

Posted by Becky Squiers on Mon, Mar, 02, 2015

TabletWith the digital world slowly taking over our lives, it’s about time biometric screenings got on board. As with any event that deals with private health information, it’s important to make the necessary security measures, which puts us a little behind the times. But, watch out world—TotalWellness has tablets!

We’ve recently introduced the option of collecting data digitally at our onsite screening events. To ease any concern that might come with this new option, we’re here to lay out the details of tablet data collection at biometric screening events.

First, rest assured that our tablet technology is completely secure. The data we collect is transmitted to our secure database on a HIPAA-compliant network using SSL protocol encryption. This technical jargon basically means that nobody should be able to get into our network. If by chance they do, they won’t be able to read any of the information we have stored there because it’s encrypted (basically written in gibberish until it’s unlocked).

We also have a number of safeguards in place to ensure data quality and correct participant matching. This means we won’t accidently put Steve’s health information with Jessica’s name. Each person’s data will be recorded as his or her own information.

This process might seem complicated, but we have it under control, which means that you won’t need to provide any type of IT support. All we will need at your event is Wi-Fi connection.

Aside from our specific security features, tablet data collection has a ton of other benefits when it comes to your screening event. Essentially, is helps us to provide you with the data faster so you can get your employees incentives to them as soon as possible.

This is done with an enhanced information flow, streamlined data collection and efficient scheduling. The tablets help us to remove unnecessary steps and sync the data collection with the recording. This provides events that run more smoothly, employees that can get back to work more quickly and less opportunity for human error when it comes to data transfers.

The digital data collection process at TotalWellness can be broken down into five simple steps:

Step 1: Our health professionals sign in to the secure TotalWellness database using the tablet and Wi-Fi on site.

Step 2: Each participant is checked in on the tablet using our proprietary registration system, Register My Time.

Step 3: Our health professionals input the biometric screening results using the tablet.

Step 4: The participant is given the opportunity to review the information for accuracy and must sign for consent.

Step 5: The data is transmitted securely to the TotalWellness database immediately.

Biometric screening events with tablet data collection can be a seamless opportunity for you and your employee wellness program. We’ve taken the necessary precautions to bring this technology to you in a safe and secure way.
