We get loads of questions about the workload in your area—yes you. All of you. We’re always getting questions and concerns from people who just want more wellness work and wonder, “Why isn’t there work near me?”
Well guess what. We love those questions! Because we know it means you love working with us. Your enthusiasm for the work and willingness to be involved is really an awesome thing.
That being said, our poor schedulers can’t always handle the question load that comes in—especially when a lot of the questions are so similar. So we thought we’d address that question once and for all, right here on the blog.
First of all, we would like to say that we do wish we had events for the choosing all over the country. We wish we could have an event for every single contractor, every single day you want to work.
The truth is in some areas we’re close to that. In other areas, not so much. And that’s just kind of the nature of the work. The number of events we have in any given area depends on:
The Location
Some parts of our country are simply more populated than other parts. In the areas where there are more people, our service delivery is laid out a bit differently.
In those areas we usually have more clients in the first place. Those clients usually have more employees, so the events they order are bigger.
That means, in the more populated areas, we need more contractors like you to be able to carry out our business. Unfortunately, in less populated areas, the opposite is true. We have fewer clients, smaller events and, therefore, need fewer contractors less frequently.
We utilize a mile radius to determine which contractors are notified about events in a given area. That radius extends from the physical location of the event out a certain number of miles on every side. Depending on our needs, and the number of contractors in an area, we might expand the radius. You'll be eligible to nominate for an event if your home address falls inside the mile radius for that event.
Time of Year
You might’ve witnessed this fact yourself, but flu season is our busiest season of the year by far. To be specific, we mean flu shot season. That extends anytime from about August through October or November, and it’s when a majority of companies are trying to arm their workforces against the flu.
It only makes sense, then, that we’ll have more events during flu season. Keep in mind, though, that not every single contractor is qualified to work a flu shot clinic, and fewer contractors are usually needed anyways.
Only nurses can administer flu shots. Anyone who isn’t a registered nurse might not benefit from the influx of events during flu season, and that’s simply due to the requirements of vaccine administration. Even if you are a nurse, you won't be scheduled to work a flu shot event unless you've completed your flu certification for that year.
Along the same lines, you might see a lot of events come through and wonder why you haven’t been selected to work very many. Flu events differ from screening events because there’s usually only one service being offered—flu shots. That means we don’t need as many contractors. In fact, for smaller events, we can usually get by with just one!
Client Load
It all comes down to the needs of our clients. They’re the focus of our business. That means we have work where we have clients, and we schedule that work according to their needs.
We’re always looking for and recruiting more clients, but we do have a good variety. Our client load is fairly representative of the layout of corporate America. We have more clients and more events where more people live. Their wellness needs follow the health trends of our society.
We’ll continue to do our very best to increase our client load all across the country. We love working with the clients we have because we truly love what we do. And we’re so grateful that you help us do that in your area.
Just know that—even if the workload seems smaller than you’d like—you’re helping making a difference in employees’ lives everywhere. We know you want to work as many events as possible, and we’ll continue to try to get those events in front of you!
Do you have any questions about the things that determine the workload in your area?
P.S. If you have questions about when there will be events in your area, keep an eye on the scheduling system. All the information we would give you can be found in there—and you’ll probably get it faster than if you try to get ahold of us first.
