The good news? With a little work, you can get back on track.
Here are six things you can start working on today to spice up your worksite wellness program.
Give employees a break.
Get employees moving for 10 minutes with group exercise breaks. It could be a quick Zumba session, Tai Chi or even a line dance. These mini-exercise routines can increase employees' energy levels and can help heighten mental alertness and productivity. Look for volunteers in each department to lead the workouts so that it spreads throughout the organization.
Be social.
Take time to get out of your office - walk around, talk with your employees. Answer any questions about the wellness program. This personal touch can help you build trust and a connection with employees.
Get involved in community events.
Research local healthy events like 5k walks or fun runs. Sponsor a team to encourage employees to improve their personal health while giving back to the community.
Start a club.
A running/walking club is great way to promote employee health and bring employees together. Be sure to encourage those of all fitness levels to join - maybe start with an "experienced" group and another one for those who just want to get off the couch.
Host a special event.
Look in your community for local motivational speakers, fitness professionals, or registered dietitians to help inspire your employees at lunch and learn.
Embrace fun.
Worksite wellness doesn't have to always be serious. Think about hosting a random hula-hoop contest in the conference room, obstacle course in the cafeteria, or healthy recipe contest potluck.
