Hosting a Workplace Flu Shot Clinic: It's easy as 1-2-3

Posted by Lisa Stovall on Wed, Oct, 02, 2013

abcEach and every year, companies are affected financially by the flu season. Employees with the flu typically miss three to five days of work and their productivity can be adversely affected for weeks. Employee absenteeism and impaired on-the-job performance cost employers thousands of dollars each year.

Getting a flu shot is the best way for individuals to protect themselves from the flu. Hosting a worksite seasonal flu shot clinic is an easy and convenient way to ensure your employees get vaccinated. It's a small investment with a large positive impact.

For many corporate human resources and benefits professionals, it can seem a little overwhelming to add yet another project to your overflowing plate. But TotalWellness partners with you to take care of all the details. All you need to do is follow these three easy steps and you'll have a successful event.

1. Reserve Your Date

Clinics run September to December. You request your date and we will try our best to accommodate. It's always best to book early - October fills up super fast and we need about four weeks notice to ensure a smooth clinic. Each clinic requires at least 20 participants. Our nurses can generally vaccinate about 25 people per hour.

2. Promote Your Clinic

Creating awareness is crucial to hosting a successful flu shot clinic. Be sure to advertise with posters in high traffic areas, emails and articles in the company newsletter or intranet. Our templates can help you effectively promote and communicate the value of the clinic to your employees. Plus, you can also use our efficient online scheduler, so that each employee can be slotted for their vaccination day and time.

3. Vaccinate Your Employees

We have a national network of over 5,000 health care professionals delivering service in all 50 states. Our local nurses will be at your location to give the vaccinations at the time of your clinic – efficiently and professionally. You just need to provide necessary supplies (tables, chairs and wastebaskets) for the nurses.
